Saja, Ethiopia – June 16, 2025 (Gurage Zone Calendar: Sene 9, 2017 E.C.) – A group of media professionals drawn from the Ministry of Tourism and various national media outlets have concluded their familiarization tour of the Central Ethiopia Region. The tour, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Central Ethiopia Region’s Culture and Tourism Bureau, aimed to promote the region’s diverse tourist attractions.
Ato Nur Kedir, Deputy Head of the Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau and Head of the Tourism Sector, stated that the media professionals, who arrived from the Ministry of Tourism and various national media organizations, spent the past five days actively visiting and effectively promoting the region’s historical, natural, and man-made tourist destinations.
Ato Nur Kedir expressed his gratitude to the media team for visiting the region, observing its rich tourism potential, and introducing it to the world. He urged them to continue strengthening these promotional efforts in the future. He concluded by extending thanks to the Federal Ministry of Tourism for its significant contribution in sending media professionals to the region to promote its tourism resources.
Ato Alemayehu Getachew, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Tourism and leader of the delegation, explained that the tour was undertaken with the objective of promoting the country. He emphasized that the media professionals’ visit played a crucial role in making the attractions within the Central Ethiopia Region preferred tourist destinations.
He added that the tour, which covered various attractions across different parts of the region, will help visitors discover and choose these destinations. He also highlighted that the promotional work, beyond attracting tourists, opens up these destinations for investment.
The media professionals, for their part, expressed their astonishment at witnessing the tourist destinations firsthand within the region. They stated their commitment to playing their part in promoting the numerous attractions they saw to the entire world.
The media outlets further noted that while the region boasts countless captivating destinations, more effort is needed in promotion and in developing infrastructure for these sites to attract a greater number of tourists.
The media organizations that participated in the tour include Fana Media Corporation, NBC, Hagere Television, Ethiopian Press Agency, Ethiopian National Radio, Tirta FM 97.6, Awash FM 90.7, Menaharia FM 99.1, Hagere Media & Communication, Ethiopian Herald, Mountain Media, and the Government Communication Service.
