Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – June 14, 2025 (FMC) – Efforts are underway to develop, protect, and promote tourism resources in the Central Ethiopia Region, aiming to establish it as a preferred tourist destination. As part of this initiative, media professionals are currently touring the region’s tourist sites.
Nur Kedir, Deputy Head of the Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau, stated that significant focus is being placed on developing the region’s tourist destinations. He emphasized the importance of strengthening investment opportunities to enable the development and enhance the accessibility of tourist attractions. He also highlighted that private sector participation is crucial for expanding tourism activities. Recognizing this, efforts are being made to encourage private sector investment in areas that can support tourism.
The Deputy Head noted that the work to develop, protect, and promote tourism resources is designed to make them preferred tourist destinations. He explained that the ongoing tour by media professionals is part of these promotional efforts.
The media professionals are visiting historical, natural, and cultural tourist destinations within the region, having already explored sites in the Gurage, Silte, Halaba, and Hadiya Zones. Among the tourist destinations they have visited are the Gibe River Valley National Park, Silte Abaya Lake, Angeri Palace, Arto Hot Spring, and Mechafer Lake.
